Important Notice!

The Board of Directors of the South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society have approved an updated version of the organization’s by-laws.  The revised by-laws will be formally presented to the membership of the SCPGS at its monthly meeting on March 5, 2023.  A vote for approval of the document will be held at the April 2, 2023 meeting of the Society.

A copy of the proposed revision is available here.  Paper copies delivered by postal mail may be requested by contacting the Society through the website or one of our officers.  Questions or concerns about the updated by-laws should be directed to the President through the SCPGS website or by mail to our postal mailing address.

​South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, Inc. (SCPGS) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization of genealogists. As genealogists, we study our ancestry and family history, and are interested in preserving our family heritage for future generations.

Our primary geographic area of interest and coverage is Pennsylvania's York and Adams counties. Our purpose is to encourage and promote an interest in genealogy by ...
  • collecting and preserving materials related to genealogy
  • encouraging the compilation and publication of family genealogies and histories
  • publishing materials of interest and benefit to members
  • holding meetings for the education of our members and the public
  • offering financial and volunteer support to the library at the York County History Center (previously the York County Heritage Trust).

PLEASE NOTE:  South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society (SCPGS) is separate from the York County History Center, therefore, your membership in SCPGS will not obtain you free access to the library at the York County History Center.
