The "Roll" is an "Enrollment List of all white male persons of the age of 21 years and under the age of 45 years subject to military duty...."

Most entries give the names of the males enrolled, their residence (by Borough or Township), age, occupation, and marital status.

When applicable, entries also identify those exempt, or not liable and the cause for their exemption (physical disability of some sort, paid commutation/substitute, in service, etc.)
